The 2022 Arts and Culture Grant intake will provide a total amount of $35,000 for awarded projects.
All applications will be disseminated against equally qualified applications with the evaluation criteria. See guidelines for more details. Although you do not need to be a member to apply, we highly encourage all applicants to become a member of the Squamish Arts Council.
About the Grant Program
Funding is available to groups, organizations, or individuals with arts and culture projects comparable to the goals and mandate of Arts Council. SAC will provide funds to pay specific expenses for approved projects that seek to enhance arts and culture activities in Squamish.
Project proposals that are within the framework of arts and culture for Squamish are eligible. The intent of the grant is to provide community enhancement through the lens of arts and/or culture. A broad range of projects will be eligible for support from the ACG, as outlined by the application guidelines and assessment methodology. Please refer to these for developing your project proposals.
Assessment & Deadlines
Assessment of applications is done by a committee of local volunteers who are passionate about arts and culture in Squamish. The committee will assess how well the project proposal meets the evaluation criteria, contributes to community enhancement for the arts, and meets the mandate of the Squamish Arts Council.
Eligible projects must commit to performing funded activities and expenditures between the date that the grant is approved and before December 31, 2022.
Applications are judged against these criteria alongside a number of equally eligible applications. It is the applicants’ responsibility to ensure their application is complete. Incomplete applications and/or application missing required information will not be reviewed.
Deadline: November 12, 2021
Late applications will not be reviewed. For previous grant recipients, final reports from the previous year are required for your application to be considered.
NEW! Please complete the online application (below) and attach a balanced project budget. Questions? Email [email protected]. Only online submissions will be considered unless otherwise approved.
I’m not a non-profit – can I still apply?
Individuals and groups are eligible to apply for the ACG. We encourage all applicants to work with other community groups or non-profits to increase collaboration in our community.
Things to Know About ACG Grants
An unfavourable decision from the assessment Committee should not be seen as a reflection of the quality or value of the endeavour. Rather, it is the result of the difficult choices that must be made from amongst the many worthy applications we receive from across Squamish.
The Committee seldom provides 100% of the support required or requested for any given project. We encourage applicant organizations to develop a broad base of financial and in-kind support for proposed projects or initiatives.
The intent of the grant is community enhancement. It is up to the applicant to make a strong case as to why and how their project supports community enhancement. Grant monies are not provided for projects that make a surplus or profit or add to the profitability of a business or for-profit entity. Funds also cannot be used for advertising, administrative, annual operation costs, capital expenditures, or festival sponsorship and operations. Projects whose focus is not arts and culture are not eligible.
