Eileen Kiyonaga is a multidisciplinary artist that uses wood and watercolour to communicate the fluid lines and natural geometries she finds so appealing in nature. Trained in industrial design as well as fine furniture and joinery, Eileen has a sharp eye for details and is always working towards creating a feeling with her work. She wants her creations to invoke a calming, natural sense that draws people into the smaller particulars.
Although trained in precision, she finds beauty in the softer and perfectly imperfect lines and shapes you see in nature which comes forward in her work. Wood has so many of these qualities inherently, and when teamed with the surprises (or mistakes as others may see them 🙂 ) that sometimes happen along the way, the result just lends itself more to this aesthetic and the feeling it provokes.
