Michael Jekot brings a human component to his art. His work is defined by topic and style, engaging subjects such as his current focus, failed dictators and the automobiles produced under their regimes. He is most inspired by dynamic personalities, from backyard mechanics to engineers, who blend incredible design and mechanical engineering. His typically large-scale art embraces the interaction between man and machine.
After completing his studies at the San Francisco Art Institute, Michael launched a career in visual merchandising. He developed a recognizable painting style resulting in commissions for his paintings as well as posters and graphic design. Clients included both private and corporate patrons.
Michael has curated two large-scale art exhibits in Minnesota titled; Velocity at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Both of these exhibits focused on transportation art and included 50 artists from around the world. He also has been awarded Best of Show at the national Porsche Club of America’s 50 anniversary event.
