Neil Foster is a graphic designer, mixed-media artist and illustrator greatly influenced by the colourful pop culture of the 80s and 90s. Growing up during the Star Wars era, Neil was surrounded by a host of creative influences; including comic books, action figures, metal music, and horror films.
He’s always had a deep appreciation for the craft of toymaking and, in 2013, embarked upon a journey to learn the skills of moulding and casting his own art toys. He’s now part of a growing counter-culture movement of bootleg toymakers. In addition to toymaking, he also paints, inks and designs digital graphics—often including a tactile element in his works.
In his professional career, Neil is a trained screen printer and graphic designer. He is currently co-owner of Substrate Studios, a marketing and graphic design consultancy based in Squamish.
